8-5-10  Well. It was a hot time in the old town today! Not just the temperature but the playing was competitive and enjoyable.  Thanks go to the RLGA and specifically Linda Chavez for organizing a great event.  Good turnout, good golf, good conversation, good food, and good prizes!  I know I really enjoyed the fun afterwards at the great lunch buffet served by the club.  Thanks go to the club food service, the support from the Member services, the maintenance crew, and especially to Chris, Trent and Matt today from the Golf Shop.  Only two strokes separated the top five teams so the competition was as torrid as the weather. We had a new SMGA member to play in the Playday today. His name is Jerry Kirby and has only been a member of the club for three months.  He was encouraged by his wife Lena Hong to join our group and she thought today was a good day for him to play his first tourney.  Please welcome Jerry when you get a chance to meet him. 

Next week's tourney on August 11 is a two man scramble as we are scheduled for some maintenance on the greens.  The flight pairing will be A/C and B/D with a minimum of six drives per player.  There will be a 20% Team Handicap to break ties.    We will host El Dorado in an Interclub Tourney on August 18.  No SMGA Tourney is scheduled for August 25 to allow the club to play the Senior Member-Guest Tourney.  I have placed all September Tourney sign-up sheets in the SMGA Binder located in the Golf Shop.  This includes the SMGA Championship scheduled September 29-30 and the Awards Banquet on September 30.   See you next week.
