8-4-10 It was a really hot day for the Individual Net Tourney format today. Thanks for all participating. The range of play was from 3 hrs and 39 minutes(threesome) to 4 hrs and 46 minutes. The first foursome was finished in less than four hours. We still have too big a gap on length of play. I will address your role to avoid slow play in a later communication. Just a reminder to qualify for the SMGA Championship Tourney next month, you must have played in a minimum of five tourneys. Some of you are still not qualified yet.

I will be contacting a couple of players concerning their slow play today. Earlier this year Don Holec talked to me about my slow play and I have made conscious efforts to speed it up. I may not be the fastest player, but I have made improvement. You are personally responsible for your own pace of play. I am talking about being ready to play and if someone delays in your group talk to them about it. More than 46 minutes between the first foursome and the last foursome means each of us is personally responsible to keep up with the group in front of you.
The frustrating delays are not the lost balls but the time to take your shot and putting on the greens. We have circulated letters concerning this in the past and several good ideas help. Take your practice swing(not plural) while waiting for someone else to hit. Hole out your putts whenever possible instead of marking and waiting. Take your club with you in the cart and do not place it in the bag until you arrive at the next stop. Write your scores down at the next tee and make sure someone is always ready to hit at the next tee when you arrive. Encourage each other to keep up. Thanks for your cooperation to improve our enjoyment.
