8-18-10  Today was the last home Interclub tournament for this year. We still have two Away Interclub tournaments remaining with Eldorado and Hurricane Creek in September. Thanks to everyone that played and stayed for the results at the end of play. Participation in the Interclub Tournaments earns you points toward qualification in the end-of-year Tin Cup Tournament on Oct 11 & 12. I will send out a separate email updating the Tin Cup point standings.

There were 58 players (30 players from SBR and 28 players from Eldorado) in the field today. The tournament included two formats – Match Play and Team Play. The Match Play was limited to ten 2-man teams (5 teams from each club) in a winner take-all competition. The balance of the field played in the Team Play, 4-man team using 2 low net scores on each hole.

Next week’s Tournaments

Due to the Senior Member-Guest Tournament to be held on Aug 25&26, there will be no SMGA Tournament next week. Our next SMGA Wednesday tournament will be on September 1. The format is 1, 2, 3 Low Net Play, 4-man team with ABCD pairings. Denny Wiseman will send out more information on the tournament later next week.

Next Interclub Tournament

The next Interclub Tournament will be on Tuesday, September 7, at Eldorado CC. The tournament will have an 8:30 am shotgun start time. The tournament format will be similar as today – Match Play (limited to 10 players as 2-man teams from each club) and Team Play (4-man team, ABCD pairings, using 3 low net scores on each hole). The cost will be $35 and includes tournament fee, cart rental, and lunch. The deadline for the Tournament sign up is noon on Sunday, September 5. I will be sending the Match Play and Team Play teams to Eldorado on Sunday based on sign ups as of noon. Let’s support our Interclub efforts. Remember participation in the Interclub Tournaments earns you points toward playing in the Tin Cup Tournament at the end of the year. There are only 2 interclub tournaments left to earn points toward the Tin Cup.

The Match Play competition was won by SBR SMGA. SBR SMGA won three matches – 5&4, 2&1 and 2&1 – and tied two matches. Match Play is always a lot of fun and sometimes very intense. Both clubs should be congratulated – well done!

The winning SBR SMGA Match Play teams/players were: Each player received $13.20 in Pro Shop Credit.
