2-24-10
Gentlemen,
The most
consistent thing
I will remember
about the winter
of 2009-10 is I
cancelled more
tournaments than
we played. The
tournament for
Wednesday
February 24th
has been
cancelled.
Forecasted light
dusting of snow
Tuesday with an
overnight low of
28 degrees will
give us an
extended freeze
delay before the
course opens up
some time later
in the day.
Please check
with the Golf
Shop if you want
to play later in
the day. The
high is expected
to be 48 and
sunny and it is
really hard to
predict this one
if the snow has
not melted
before the
overnight
freeze.
Next week's
format is a 2
Man Team
Tournament
called No
Scotch.
Each man will
play the other's
tee
shot(switching
balls) and
choose the best
second shot.
From there, you
will play a
scramble. There
will be an
AA/BB/CC/DD
pairing if we
have enough
players. If
not, I will
choose a
different
pairing next
Monday. The
partial team
handicap will be
based on the
pairings, but is
used primarily
to break ties
like any
scramble. Since
we have winter
rules, you can
avoid losing
your partner's
golf ball by
marking the ball
from the tee
shot and using
your own
ball. It could
get interesting
when we play the
balls down later
in the year.
Please take the
time to sign up
for the March
3rd tournament
in the Golf Shop
in the SMGA
Binder.
We only had 22
signed up for
this week
probably due to
all the amateur
weather
forecasters in
our club. Keep
those smiles on
your faces
and let's see
them next week.
