7-22-09  What a beautiful day to play golf! It may have been a little slow for some, but how can you beat this weather in July. Special thanks to Chris and Johnny for running the tournament. Also, a big thank you to Alan Miller and his staff for the wonderful lunch. Thank you Robey for your work on the greens. They did roll a bit faster today. It is a pleasure to work with these dedicated folks.

Thank you to the 34 SMGA players who participated in today’s interclub with Heritage Ranch. With Heritage Ranch’s 32 players, we had 66 total players. Great turnout! Hope you had a good time whether you played Match or Team play.

Note #1: Be sure to sign up in the Pro Shop for next Wednesday’s tournament. The format: Low Net Ball - 2-man team. AB / CD Flights. 100% Hdcp. Low net on each hole.

Note #2: This was our last home Interclub of the season. We will play three away Interclubs on Aug 12 @ Canyon Creek, Sept 12th (Tues) (@ Eldorado, and October 8th (Thur) @ Heritage Ranch.

Note #3: Pro Shop Certificates: During Interclub play, payouts are given with Pro Shop Certificates. Members have two choices as to how to spend these: First, you can personally keep the certificate and it is valid for one year from date issued. You will need to keep track of the certificate and expiration date as you will not get any reminder. Your second choice is to have the Pro Shop staff deposit the amount into your credit book in which case it must be spent by the end of the year. Your choice. This only applies to Interclubs as all winnings in regular Wednesday play are deposited into your credit book.

Note #4: Tin Cup standings: After today’s Interclub, here are the point leaders: Bill Uhlemann (28 points), Don Holec (28), Roger Sachar (27), Tom George (26) and Jon Dell’Antonia (25). Go to www.smgahills.com and click on Tin Cup to see where you stand. The top point getters along with Match Play flight Champions and SMGA flight champions will be eligible to play in the Tin Cup event on October 26-27.

Now for the results of today’s Interclub. In the match play flight, Stonebridge defeated Heritage Ranch by a score of 77 to 49. Way to go Stonebridge SMGA! That gives us 4 wins and 1 loss (by 1 point) this year!
