5-27-09 Gentlemen,

Wow! Was today a great day to play golf? You bet it was. Hope everyone enjoy today as much as I did.

Pace of play could have been a little better. The last group was finished in 4 hr and 45 mins. Our target pace of play is 4½ hours or less. Let’s keep this in mind for our future rounds. Remember to keep up with the foursome in front of your group and play ready golf as much as possible.

Next Week’s Tournament

Next Wednesday we have an Interclub event and we will be hosting Hurricane Creek. Don’t forget to sign up in the green SMGA binder in the Pro Shop. Don Holec, our Interclub Director, will be sending more information on the Interclub later this week.

Formats: Two flights: Match play and four man team.

1. Match play: 12 players from each club will compete. Each two man team will be playing best ball, one point for each hole with an extra point for the front 9, back 9 and 18 for a total of 21 points. Ties will be broken by matching scorecards on the number one handicap hole, than number two, etc. We will match handicaps as close as possible on all teams. The number of strokes will be based on the lowest handicap of the four players. Match play will be from the white tees.

2. Four Man Team play: The four man teams will be the same as in the past. Where possible, two players from each club, with an A, B, C & D player on each team. The two best net balls will constitute the team’s score. Full handicaps will be used and ties will be broken by matching scorecards on the number one handicap hole, than number two, etc. Play will be from the white tees except for those eligible for the Gold Tee Program (age 72+ and handicap index of 18 or higher) who will play from the Gold Tees.
