4/1/09  Gentlemen,

We were treated to another great day for golf. We had 55 players today – what a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some friendship. The Pace of Play was again outstanding, under 4-1/2 hours. Keep up the great effort.

READ THIS IMPORTANT REMINDER:

When completing your scorecard, please record your raw score for each hole. The reason for asking you to record your raw score or your most likely score for each hole is that the Pro Shop uses a computer software program that calculates the adjusted score and figures the team or individual scores based on the tournament format. This program is able to check for math errors and eliminates many mistakes that do occur. Today, we had one foursome disqualified for recording only their net score. This was unfortunate and we do not want this to happen again. Your cooperation is appreciated.

This Month

April will be a busy month for the SMGA – beginning of Match Play Championship, two Interclub tournaments with Prestonwood CC, and the first SMGA / RLGA Play Day (hosted by SMGA).

Match Play Championship

Sign up for the Match Play ends on Friday, April 10 with competition beginning on April 13. Check website, www.smgahills.com, for details. We would like to get a full field of players (64). So if you haven’t sign up as yet, please do so soon.

Interclub Tournaments with Prestonwood CC

The first interclub tournament will be at Prestonwood CC on Tuesday, April 7. If you would like to play, you must sign up by this Saturday at noon. The format for the tournament will be a 12-player match play and a 4-man team Better Ball. When you sign up, indicate on the sign up sheet if you would like to play in the match play or 4-man team format.

SMGA / RLGA Play Day

The first scheduled play day with the RLGA is Wednesday, April 22 and is hosted by you, the SMGA. We would like to get a lot of participation by both groups. Last year, we had around 80 players. So if your wife is a member of the RLGA, encourage her to sign up for the Play Day and to get her friends to sign up as well.

Lunch will be available after the tournament in the dinning room. Hamburger / Chicken sandwiches or Salad Bar will be available for $8.21 per person (price includes tip & taxes). Note the lunch has been renegotiated and this is a price reduction from original price, so take advantage of this option. The cost will be billed to your club member account. The lunch is optional. When you sign up, indicate your choice of lunch (None, B for hamburger, C for Chicken or S for Salad Bar) on the sign up sheet. On the day of the Tournament and upon check-in, Stan Chavez will provide to you a ticket indicating your luncheon choice. As we did in December, use the ticket to obtain your lunch. Water, Ice Tea or coffee will be provided at no extra cost. Any other drinks will be added charge.

Next Wednesday’s (April 8) Tournament

Next Wednesday’s tournament is a 2-man team Low Net Ball, AB / CD flights, 100% Hdcp, and one low net score on each hole. Sign up in the SMGA Green binder in the Hills Pro Shop before Monday at 5:00pm or call the Pro Shop to add your name to the list.
