2/25/09 Gentlemen,

Another great day filled with good friends.

Voting on Gold Tee Program (This is third and last call to vote on the Program – Repeating for benefit of our new SMGA members.)

As you are aware, several of our members currently play from the Gold Tees during the Wednesday tournament. They are participating in the 2-month trial period for Gold Tee Program. The member must be age 72+ with a handicap index of 18 or greater to be eligible to play from the Gold Tees. The purpose of the program is to allow a greater participation by these senior players in team play formats and potentially increase their enjoyment during our tournament play. The course handicap of those players playing from the Gold Tees is adjusted based on course rating & slope. In addition, the handicap for remainder of the field playing from the White Tees is also adjusted in accordance with USGA recommendations for mix tee play. The handicap adjustments will even out any difference that might exist between the Gold and White tees. The trial period ends this month and continuation of the program will be based on the vote by our membership.

This is a call for you to vote on the program. The majority of the votes cast will determine if the Gold Tee program will continue for the remainder of the SMGA Year. In order for your vote to count, you must cast your vote by return e-mail to me no later than 5:00pm on Saturday, February 28. Simply vote Yes or No for continuation of the program. If you are not sure on how to vote, talk to those Gold Tee players and other SMGA members.

I will count the votes cast and send out the results on Monday, March 2. If majority vote Yes, the Gold Tee Program will continue without interruption in March. If the majority votes NO, the program will end. Please cast your vote now and remember only one vote per member will be counted.

Place of Play

No much to comment on – the pace of play was fantastic with everyone completing their round in 4 hrs – 15 min. Only 30 minutes separated the first and last foursomes. I had a few comments that they could have finished faster, but had to wait on the last few holes played. Everyone did a great job – you are congratulated on your efforts.
