11-25-09  It was a beautiful day for enjoying friends, being outside for exercise, and playing golf.  Who cares if we had a golf tournament.  I hope we have many more days like this one.  Ken Carithers may have a permanent job since he is in charge of the weather.  Here are today's tournament results and congratulations to all the winners who had more than just a beautiful sunny day with friends:

Today was a first for me with no one winning closest to the pin on one of the holes(#2).  No one else I talked to could ever remember this happening before.  That does not mean it did not happen because we are all old enough to not remember.  I guess we should give the honorary winner to Robey Canaday - the Greenskeeper and Maintenance Superintendent.  However, since he is not a member of SMGA, I could not award him the money and so I split it amonsgst the three actual CTP winners.  Mike Koch got a buck bonus for overall closest to the pin.  Who says we don't play for big stakes?

Don't forget to sign up in the Green SMGA Binder in the golf shop for all of our December tourneys to end the year.  Next week on December 2nd is an individual tournament.  The format is a Modified Stableford Tournament with 100% Handicap.  The winner will be the highest score determined for points awarded as per the following: Bogey=-1,Par=0, Birdie=2, Eagle=4, and Double Eagle=8.   I will post the sign up list Monday, November 30th , on our Are you signed up? link on the www.smgahills.com website. 

Last week, I made an error in that posting and left someone off the sign up list accidentally(that's my story and I am sticking to it).  This individual discovered it and notified me by email to ensure he was signed up(doggone it).  So, please take a look to make sure you are officially signed up.  Have a great day with your families and have a blessed Happy Thanksgiving.
