11-5-08  We had 48 players turnout for today’s tournament. This was a good turnout considering the windy conditions. Thanks to everyone that played. Welcome to our newest member – Bob Bowler, recently retired from JC Penney.

Today was Danny White’s last day at the Hills Course. Beginning tomorrow he will be working at the Dye course. We appreciate all of Danny’s hard work for the SMGA. Johnny Williams will be moving from the Dye Course to the Hills Course and will be working with the SMGA on our future events. Welcome Johnny!

I have one request for members participating in the closest to the Pin competition; please pay with money denominations of $5 or less. It is very difficult to provide change for $20 bills. Thanks for your cooperation.

Today’s tournament format was an Individual Stableford with winnings paid out in Shop Credits. The game was played within 4-1/2 hours by everyone. Way to hustle – the fastest groups finished in about 3-1/2 hours. The score of the day and a handicap adjuster was turned in by Bob Williams who shot an 80 in these windy conditions. Congratulations Bob!

Don’t forget to sign up for next week’s tournament; it is a 4-man team Shamble (best 2 low net balls on each hole with 3 or 4 drives for each player). Since this is a shamble format, there can be no blind draws for a missing team player. Only even 4-some will be able to participate in the tournament. A team with a missing player will be allowed to play with the group, but unfortunately, they will not be able to participate in the tournament. Therefore, everyone must sign up in the GREEN SMGA Tournament book located in the Pro Shop no later than Monday at 5:00 pm. Last minute additions and deletions will be difficult to accommodate. If you sign up and fail to show or cancel by Monday, your club account will be the regular $5 tournament fee. Honor your commitment to your fellow players.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me. Together, we can make this SMGA season enjoyable for everyone.
