1-9-08 Gentlemen,

 

What a nice day for golf!!  I hope ALL of you had as much fun as I did.  It was nice to see more than 3/4's of the field waiting in the Grille Room

for the results.  Welcome new member Tom George and old member Don Eastman to the SMGA.  We had 52 total members sign up, 4 cancelled

on Tuesday and 5 signed up on Tuesday.  45 of 48 members entered the CTP game and we have 41 members entered into the Hole-In-One Club for

a present payout of $205,00 to a winner.  No one cancelled even though there was a frost delay of 1/2 an hour and it was cold!!!  Thanks to all of

you for cooperating with our sign up and cancellation policy, the Board appreciates it.  I also want to thank you all for the kind comments I received

in the Grille Room after the results were announced.  Gene Whalen, Don Holec, Ed Trapp and Ken Carithers were overheard conspiring to stop some of our 

members from winning CTP's by sabatoging their golf clubs while no one is watching.  Please everyone keep an eye on them and report any unusual 

activity that you observe.  Gene Whalen also accused Al Diaz of having his pockets full of sand and not being truthful about his handicap!!!  Is that like

saying Al cheats??  Needless to say both were separated before an altercation ensued (My money's on Al he may be old as dirt but he's lethal).  Come on

guys "can't we just get along"  Shot of the day was by Terry Haines again!!  2' 6" on #15.  Don't forget to sign up for next weeks tourney which is a

2-Man Team Chapman/Pinehurst AC/BD 20% Team Handicap game.  If anyone doesn't know how it's played go to our website at www.smgahills.com and

John Greathouse, Bill Jewell, Dave Mehall, Jerry Obenour, Axel Swanson, George Belcher, John Brockett, Steve Torrance and all of you that I'm not

aware of.  We presently have 84 PAID up members in the SMGA, 17 members from last year have failed to renew their membership.  Why don't we all

try to encourage other Seniors (age 55+) to come out and play with our group.  Dues are still $25.00 and $22.00 of that goes toward our year end dinner.

ALL of our guys are great guys and enjoy the game of golf.  We have 50 Wednesdays of golf scheduled, our Match Play Championships, Club Championships

and Don Holec is working on scheduling 14 Interclub matches with Hurricane Creek, Eldorado, Canyon Creek, Heritage Ranch, Gleneagles, Frisco Lakes

and Gentle Creek.  Hopefully he will be successful in setting these up.  Prestonwood Hills and Clubs of McKinney are also being considered.  Any
