1-30-08 Gentlemen,

Mother Nature is not real happy with us!!!  We need to change our lifestyles and fly rigtht!!!!!  The weather report is not very encouraging as tomorrows forecast is for it to be 30 degrees at 9:00 am with a wind chill of 20 degrees.  As per Matt Mitchell, if it remains this way, there will definitely be a freeze delay.  At 11:00 am the wind chill will improve to 34 degrees.  For this reason we have decided that we will cancel tomorrows formal playday.  If anyone wishes to give it a go I'm sure Matt will accomadate us if and when the freeze is lifted.  We had 47 members sign up and as of now "only" 6 have cancelled.  If you aren't signed up for next week please do so at your earliest convenience between now and next Monday.  The wind was so fierce today at the Dye course that there were 5 foot waves beating against the railroad ties at the east end of the Lake at 9 &18.  Hugh Long was set to putt and the wind caused his ball to roll 3 feet without being touched!!  Hugh's wife Bonnie was hit in the face by an "Unidentified Flying Object" causing her to scream "that's it I'm done, I can't take it anymore, this is brutal, take me home Hugh"  At lunch Bonnie had what appeared to be a hand print on the right side of her face.  Pat McGhee said Hugh slapped her for missing a putt and she didn't even know what hit her thinking it was the wind!!!.  Hugh was an amateur boxer in his youth and is known for his quick hands.  Well good luck to those of us that brave the elements tomorrow.  The rest of you take care and we will see you next week.
