2-7-07  SMGA Members,

HOORAY!!  We played today!!!!  Thanks to all of you 48 members who showed up and played today in beautiful weather.  We had 2 milestones today. (1) We all finished within 10 minutes of each other and most groups finished in 3 hours and 45 minutes or less.  (2) We had 100% participation in the Closest to the Pin game.  Thanks again to all of you for playing ready golf and staying up with the group in FRONT of you not the group BEHIND you.  Another issue which came up today was the measuring of the distance in the CTP holes.  As you all know the SMGA purchased (4) 50 foot measuring tapes.  All the tapes have a Key Ring on them.  I don't want to insult your intelligence BUT the proper way to measure the distance is to place the Flag Stick (Pin) through the ring then place the Flag Stick back into the Cup (hole), letting the ring fall even with the top of the Cup (hole) then pull the tape to the FRONT of your ball, read the distance in Feet & Inches, check the Marker, if your distance is closer than the last name on the list place your name below the member you beat along with the Feet & Inches next to your name and then roll the tape back in and replace the Marker & Tape Measure where you found it and hope your distance holds up.  If anyone does not understand the method I just explained please call me and I will try to explain it to you.  My home # is (214) 585-4940.  Don't forget to sign up for next weeks tourney, it's easier to sign up and remove your name from the list than to try and sign up on Tuesdays or Wednesday mornings.  The sign up sheets for February and March are in the book.  On Saturday February 3rd I e-mailed all of you the tournament schedule for February & March, please refer to that schedule for Tournament formats.  Two (2) members weren't able to play today because they failed to sign up on time.  We are going to try, if we can, to eliminate "Bling Bogey" draws when we play 4-Man team formats.  Everyone will be allowed to play but if  we don't have an even team on Scrambles & Shambles the extra players will not compete for prize money.  This makes it fair for the whole field and eliminates the advantage for the 3 man team who hits an extra ball.  There is no excuse for a bad golf shot, but....I heard some more excuses that I will share with the membership " My dog chewed up my golf glove" "It's this new putter" "I thought you said dog leg left" "The greens are faster than they look".  It was nice to see Phil Wheat up and around this morning.  We hope Dick Price & Kim Norman recover soon from their Surgeries.  Finally the weekly winners:
